Almanac

Almanac is a trio between singer, light and electronic audio - chamber music between three different medias. The three players must push against each other in order to be heard. The singer sits inside the frame of the light and the electronics are produced from recordings of the singer’s voice, creating dense overlapping audiovisual textures. Because the light and electronic audio are on a fixed playback sequence, the singer is challenged to bring an extra level of agility, shaping their voice to create the impression of push and pull against otherwise fixed media. Amidst many fast moving textures in the piece, passages of stillness put brakes on the music and allow the three players to be taken in from a different, less hurried angle.
