Music and Podcast Production Course for the New York Public Library.
In the Spring of 2025 I developed a Music and Podcast Production course for the New York Public Library’s studio40. Titled Audio Production Series (APS), library patrons of all ages and backgrounds recorded, edited, and mixed an original song or podcast over the course of 8 weeks.
Consisting of 30 participants and 7 volunteer teaching assistants, this series was a space for gaining technical and creative skills in audio production, as well as to foster camaraderie and find collaborators among like-minded creatives.
This was the first series program at TechConnect to incorporate a Blended Learning Format, a learning model I developed in 2024-25, designed to balance the accessibility of online learning with the effectiveness and community-building qualities of hands-on, in-person instruction.
Through this blended learning format, we were able to offer a high-quality, community-centered learning experience to patrons whose commute to the Library, work schedule, and other commitments would have otherwise precluded them from participating in our series-based programs.
“Overall, this program created a great place to be creative, a place to mess up and get support with troubleshooting, a place to be inspired by seeing the art others are creating, and excellent resources that really helped me improve my craft. Also, so glad you were able to come up with a schedule that allows folks like me with a 9-5 to participate.” –APS Participant
